Update

We will have been home for 2 weeks on Thursday. The trip seems like a million years ago. Leah has finally settled into somewhat of a routine. She has been sleeping through the night for the past 2 nights. Yea! No more playing at 2:00am (hopefully).

The first week home was rather rough. We were jet lagged, and Leah was 12 hours out of sync. Our bulldog had a sinus infection, and Heidi got the stomach flu. Rich said this was "fatherhood by fire." After 20,000 miles of traveling and being stolen and recovered in Guangzhou, the laptop gave up the ghost. Thank goodness we kept the pictures on the laptop and our memory cards. We do have to sort through 600 pictures again and name them again--a process we have not even begun yet.

Everyone we have talked to asks us what China was like. Looking back, it is hard to explain. It is unlike anywhere we have ever been. It is completely outside of any reference frame we had. Everything about it is different from anywhere either of us have ever been.

Leah has already been out to eat at several of the local restaurants and has visited several of the shops. She still loves to eat and visit with people. We don't think the kid ever gets full. Each day she shows more of her personality, and we think she'll be walking within a month. She is a very good little baby and is happy most of the time. She still pitches a fit from time to time, particularly before bed. But she did sit through church quietly this past Sunday, so this was good.

Leah will be one year old next Thursday, the 28th. Grandma is having a birthday party for her in Aiken, SC this Saturday and she will be meeting her cousins Cassie (2.5 yrs) and Connor (5 mos.) from Michigan who are flying down for the big event.
