February Update

I’m sorry that our updates the last couple of months have been so late.  We’ll try to do better with the one for March. :-)

February was a month filled with special occasions.  We went to Madison to help give a shower for Leah’s coming little sister, and while we were there we were able to get together with a number of other China adoptive and waiting families for supper.  That was a lot of fun.  While we were there, Mrs. Heidi, Mr. Rich, and Leah gave Mary Joyce some cute new hair bows, including some Valentine’s Day bows.  Mary Joyce is not very cooperative when it comes to wearing bows in her hair, but we made a valiant effort.  Hopefully, as her hair gets thicker and Mary Joyce gets older, we’ll be able to do a little more about keeping her bows in place.

We also got together with some China families in our area to celebrate Chinese New Year.  That was a fun evening, too, with cute decorations and lots of Chinese food.  This year, we only had Mary Joyce and Lia home from China, but hopefully Mei and Kaelie will be home to celebrate with us next year.

Mary Joyce is walking more and more and crawling less and less.  She has learned the sign for “all done,” although she doesn’t always use it at exactly the right time.  She also has learned to say “woof.”  Every animal of every kind is currently a “woof.”  Most importantly on the talking front, she is using “Mama” correctly and has started calling Chet “Da.”  It is so cute when she sees Chet come in from work in the evenings or at lunch.  She gets her whole body into it, and announces “Da!”  It is very adorable, even if I do say so myself.

Enjoy the pictures!

Modeling a Special Dress

(Mary Joyce is the 3rd China Girl to wear this dress. It first belonged to Elizabeth A., then Leah. We have now passed it along to Ruthie.)
