July Update
Overall, July was a fairly uneventful month for us. Baby Katherine decided not to come on her due date, so the expected big event for the month didn’t happen. We mostly spent time together in our last month as a family of three.
We were really looking forward to July 4 this year, as it would be Mary Joyce’s first as a U.S. citizen. We had planned to cook out at home, attend some of the events in town, and go down to the beach to see the fire works. Unfortunately, the weather was not cooperative at all. It rained most of the day. That put a damper on our cookout, and caused the town to reschedule the fireworks for Labor Day. We did wander downtown for a little while, but most of the booths had already shut down for the day.
July 5 was the 2 year anniversary of our Log in Date for Mary Joyce’s adoption. It is hard to believe that it has been 2 years already, especially since we have friends (Jen and Mike) who were logged in in December of 2005, and they still are waiting for their referral. (Hang in there, y’all…You are in our thoughts and prayers down here in Florida.)
One interest of Mary Joyce’s that has really taken root is her love of music. She has always loved to dance to music and to “sing.” She also enjoys playing the piano with her Grandmama or anyone else who will let her join them. She also has a little piano of her own, which was mine when I was a little girl. She frequently plays music for us on it, and will even sing with it sometimes. You will see a photo below of her playing and singing with the laundry basket on her head. I have no explanation for that one. :-)
