Today we started are long awaited journey to pick up our sons Mintesnot and Dagem (Justin and Adam) from Ethiopia. We are both so excited. The journey began in Flint with a quick jaunt to Detroit. From there we had a much longer flight to Amsterdam with a 3 hour layover, and then another 6 or 7 hours to Sudan with a one hour layover, and then another hour and a half to Ethiopia. As we were leaving from Amsterdam, we had to come back from the runway because a pipe broke in the galley in the back of the plane, and we had a bit of a flood. An hour later and after a plumber that makes plane calls was done, we were on our way again. We got to Ethiopia quite late Saturday night. We are 8 hours ahead of eastern time. We were met at the airport by workers from Bethany and ushered to where we are staying. We are staying at the guest home of Nesibu and Bartukan. These are two extremely kind people that direct one of the local orphanages here. They have been all kinds of help already. Not only do they prepare our meals for us, but they have been eating with us and teaching us all kinds of Ethiopian customs. Bartukan is going to teach Erin how to prepare some of the more popular Ethiopian dishes, as well. We are very exhausted from our ride, but excited at the same time. Tomorrow, we get to meet our boys!
