February Update
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God.--John 3:1

Alayna turned seven months on February 2nd and has been home two months now. She continues to adjust to family life quite well and is such a smiley, content little girl. She learned to sit on her own this month and is getting a little more comfortable with tummy time. Although she has not yet shown an interest in crawling, she has perfected the roll when mobility is needed. All in all though, Alayna is definitely happiest when she is being held and snuggled…which is just fine with us.
Alayna had a doctor’s visit this month and continues to grow at a healthy pace. She weighed in at 15 pounds 15 ounces and is 26.5 inches tall. She also received a vaccination this month and did really well with the shot. Amelia felt bad that her baby had a shot and was trying to tell her how lucky she was to have a Hello Kitty band-aid. In Amelia’s mind, that made everything all right. (Not sure if Alayna agreed with that one!)
The only downside we are dealing with now is Alayna has not slept through the night yet. We give her fruit and cereal with her bedtime bottle, but still no luck. I think uninterrupted sleep would make a world of difference right about now in the Brown household! Here’s praying for sweet dreams, Alayna!

Family Life
Amelia had a Valentine’s party at school, and she was able to invite Grandma and Grandpa to go with her. She was so excited to pass out her candy treats to her classmates. She came home with a big bag of candy and cards with a smile to match. This was her first experience passing out Valentines.
Nick and I went to the annual Mother/Son brunch at Catholic Central. As always, the mass was inspiring and the food yummy. The school teaches the boys to honor and pray to Mary and follows it up with nice events to solidify relationships between mothers and their sons. I am going to miss these times once he graduates. Also, on February 23rd Nick was inducted into the National Honor Society. He was chosen based on his academic performance, service projects and leadership roles. Tom and I are extremely proud of him.
The last week of the month I took the kids down to Indiana for a quick visit. We stopped at Aunt Mary Lou’s and Uncle Jerry’s on the way to visit our friends, the Jeffersons, in Indianapolis. My aunt had prepared a nice lunch for us, and it was great to be able to spend a few hours chatting and introducing them to Alayna. The kids were quiet and well- behaved. I should have known something was up!
By time we hit Karen and Paul’s on Friday afternoon, Alayna had the flu, and I spent the weekend changing diapers every hour with laundry in between. By time we arrived home Sunday night, Nick and I also had it. (Amelia had it the week prior to leaving, so she wasn’t totally off the hook.) A week later, and we were finally all healthy again. I do have to say, despite the yuckiness, we had a nice time as usual. It’s great having good friends that just roll with us. Thank you, Jeffersons!
We are all anxiously awaiting some nice weather here so we can get out and play. So glad Spring is just around the corner. Until next month, blessings to all….

Thank you for the heart tights and red shoes, Isabella! Gosh, we love hand-me-downs.
Nick and Alayna, what great smiles!
