"We could never learn to be brave and patient if there were only joy in the world."-- Helen Keller
Well, we have been brave and we have been patient, so now comes the JOY! Today is the big day--Hannah comes home to her whole family! Oh Happy Day! It is raining and miserable, but we are excited! I am hoping to post some pictures of our (Emily and my) first meeting with Hannah and reunion with Dad--it may be a couple of days :-)
Rob--thank you! Rob's mantra in life is, "I like to wear beige and fade into the woodwork." It's true; he is not a big attention seeker, at all. He is a necessary complement to the heart I wear so readily on my sleeve. I wonder what this experience has been like through his eyes. I will be anxious to hear. Rob hates leaving his hometown; he's not an adventurer, but he is a really genuine guy. He has cared for Hannah beautifully--We are all grateful. Great job, Dad!
Jim--what a sacrifice you have made--thank you for caring enough to make such a journey and help bring our little girl home. Thank you to your family for sharing you. I hope there were more joys than hiccups on the trip and I hope the title "Uncle Jim" sits well with you (wink, wink!)
Rain, rain, go away,
Come again some other day
Hannah Leigh is almost home
A family to call her own
We loved her long before we knew her face
So beautiful and full of grace
Just wait until you smile and see
Your wonderful sister, Emily
and mama, well, her arms ache
to hold you close and kiss your face
Your daddy loves you, plain to see
So hurry home, Hannah Leigh.
Thanks to all who have written, called, cried, screamed, laughed, shared. Most of you have requested we post pictures of homecoming--I will do my best.
Love,
Heather
Emily holding THE SIGN!
