March 29, 2007

I'm not exactly sure what the plans for the day were in China, but I know Rob planned to "lay low" and spend a quiet day. Some members of the group were going to visit the porcelain factory and go to the park. Jim planned to take the video camera, so we would have footage, even though Rob planned to take it easy with Hannah Apparently because of the heat and what he thinks may be an ear infection, she slept fitfully the night before, and he wants her little system to get a chance to recoup. It is very hot in Nanchang, 86 degrees and 85% humidity. The hotel air is not working, and he said most of the babies are having a rough time of it.

When they went to visit the locals, Rob and Hannah never even made it off the bus because she fell sound asleep on his chest--he didn't have the heart to wake her to walk her around, so he stayed right there.

He did tell me that she is eating well (congee, cereal, her bottles, juice and pedialyte to keep her hydrated in the heat), and she is taking her medicine well (yippee!). He said she is a real trooper, and he is proud of her, for all the changes she is having to transition into (me too, Hannah!). I'm pretty thankful for his resolve, as well. One of the other babies is having a very hard time drinking (they think perhaps thrush could be the problem, and so the daddy is feeding her from a dropper--you can pray for this baby and her daddy, as they are just trying to get over the hurdles in the midst of all the joy of knowing each other.)

Emily enjoys crossing each day that goes by, off her "China" calendar and recapping the events of the day--she gives me explicit instructions of what to tell Daddy. I am off to my last day of work for a while, and it's probably better, given my mind is somewhere in China:-)

Have a wonderful day!

Love,
Heather and Emily
