We have traveled all day and just got settled into our room at the White Swan Hotel in Guangzhou. It is a beautiful hotel - but the rooms smell of mold and mildew. Mom is stuffed up already from it. We have inquired as to how to fix this problem, and so far have not gotten any results.

It is very hot here. I expect I'll be able to get out some of the sun suits and hats I brought along for Jade. We ate dinner at Lucy's. Lucy's serves American food. We got take out, and it is edible.

Tomorrow we expect to have a free day at the hotel. Others are going on a tour but we are toured out and just want to relax and maybe do a little shopping.

Jade did ok on the plane flight. She didn't sleep hardly at all. She must not have an ear infection because her ears didn't bother her at all. I think the pulling on her ears is from the teething.

We are off to bed for now. We never did understand why so many spoke of "board hard" beds in China. We had just nice beds in Beijing and Kunming. The beds here at the White Swan are everything I have read about. Rock hard. We are so exhausted I think we could sleep on the floor if necessary.

Good night from Guangzhou!
