First things first…WE NEED MORE PRAYER! There is a typhoon headed our way and should be here on Friday or Saturday. We are supposed to leave on Saturday at noon, and we REALLY want to come home. Our guides did tell us tonight that it looks like it is just going to drop lots of rain here, but we don’t need any delays so that we can make each connecting flight. Please pray that the clouds part, and the rain ceases late Friday night or early Saturday, so that we can come home and Ruthie can meet her daddy and her other brother!
Next, thank you for your prayers regarding our consulate appointment. Everything went great and I got a call at 10:48am from our guide, Lily. She congratulated me and told me I was now finished with all adoption paperwork!!! Thank you Jesus!! After 4 ½ years, that was music to my ears! Now we go to the consulate tomorrow for our swearing in, and then we will get Ruthie’s passport and visa on Friday just in time to fly out. Hallelujah!
Ruthie has had another great day today. I was able to keep her on her schedule again, so I think that might be the key to our success. She got in trouble for the first time today because she was about to play with the electrical outlet. I grabbed her hand and said, “NO!!”; she fell in the floor and threw a complete temper tantrum. She is about to be two so this might become frequent behavior.
The main attraction for today was a dinner cruise on the Pearl River. It was a lot of fun, and we really enjoyed the evening with our group, but the food left a lot to be desired. It was traditional Chinese food, and thankfully, they had things labeled so we could decide what not to put on our plates. Guess what we had? Yep! Rice and watermelon! I love watermelon, but it might be awhile before I want anymore. We were all talking on the boat tonight that when we got home, we can’t wait to go to our local Mexican restaurants. I would love some chips and salsa right now!!
Tomorrow we head to the Guangzhou Botanical Gardens, and then to the consulate in the afternoon. This could pose a problem for keeping Ruthie on her schedule, but we are hoping for the best! Our friends, Ashley and Griffin, have told us about an Italian restaurant that they found right across from our hotel that is wonderful…we’re going there tomorrow night! It’s not Mexican, but it’ll do!
Have a great day! Sweet dreams from Guangzhou!
