Ni Hao from Guangzhou! We made it and feel as if we have entered into a tropical paradise resort! We have an extremely nice suite...Jon Milledge can't believe he has his own room now, which actually equals a cot in the living area, but hey...whatever it takes! We were greeted by our guide at the airport and one other family. We were then informed that for the next week, we would have 10 other adoptive families as friends! Yipppee! Caryn and I can't wait to get to know the other families, and I'm sure Caryn is excited to get to talk to someone besides me all day.

Ruthie did great on the plane. She had all the people sitting around us feeding her, holding her and taking pictures of her before it was over. We were fed a Chinese meal that wasn't too bad, and she ate some of all of ours, which was a great distraction. I was worried about her ears since she is so congested still, but they didn't seem to bother her. Once arriving at the hotel, she became very agitated and almost angry. She kept looking around the room, and I think was scared to death about being in another new place. It took me well over an hour to settle her down to get her to sleep. Hopefully tomorrow she will settle in here and realize that anywhere will be fine as long as she is with her family.

Quick story for today. We were picked up at our hotel in Xian by our guide and driver just like every other day this week, and we are heading to the police station to get Ruthie's passport and then on to the airport. It is raining today, so the traffic that I spoke of yesterday is even worse. We enter the Xian 500 with great ease...at first. About 20 minutes into our ride, we were involved in a fender bender. I mean really...only me! In China, there are no medians to get in, so there we were in the middle of the road watching our driver yell at the other driver while numerous other people drive by and stare at the crazy Americans in the wrecked car! No one was hurt, so all is well, but we didn't arrive at the airport until about 15 mins. before the plane started boarding.

Oh yes...one more thing. We got our laundry back from the restaurant last night where I had 55 pieces of clothing laundered...cost me over $200 USD. We might be coming home with lots of dirty clothes if this place can't do better than that! Good grief!

Sorry for the short post today; actually you are probably really glad for the break from my rambling, but we left our hotel in Xian at 2pm, arrived at our hotel here at nine something, and it took me forever to settle poor Ruthie, and now it is 12:47am on Saturday...I'm beat!

Goodnight from paradise!

Angie
