January 2, 2006—Mailed application to The Open Door
January 6, 2006—Approved by The Open Door
January 9, 2006––Received confirmation packet from the agency
January 23, 2006----Mailed signed confirmation packet back to agency
January 31, 2006—Received the Adoption Guidebook in the mail
February 1, 2006—Mailed the I-600A to the USCIS office in Atlanta. Took form requesting DFACS background check to DFACS office. Milledge and I were fingerprinted for GA at the local sheriff's office.
February 7, 2006— Put bleach in our well in hopes of testing negative for bacteria when it is tested later this week!
February 8, 2006—Angie’s physical
February 9, 2006—Well tested
February 10, 2006—Angie’s test results back, everything good!
February 11, 2006—International Adoption Training Seminar in Atlanta
February 14, 2006—Milledge’s physical; Water test back...it was negative!
February 16, 2006—Milledge’s test results back, everything good! Ruthie’s first gift....Shoaey and Dot, from Becky
February 18, 2006—Our first Ruthie purchases-----2 PINK outfits
February 20, 2006— The boys physicals
February 21, 2006—Mailed the completed home study packet to Open Door. The boys had their TB screening
February 22, 2006–Found out that the DFACS report is finished and is at Open Door
February 24, 2006—Fingerprinting for the USCIS done in Atlanta
March 9, 2006—-heard from our social worker and set up our first home study appointment
March 20, 2006—Our first home study visit
March 31, 2006—Second home study visit
April 7, 2006—Third home study visitApril 10, 2006—Fourth home study visit with the boys
June 2, 2006—Completed and approved home study sent to the USCIS office in Atlanta
August 7,2006--made sure everything was notarized and ready
August 8, 2006—took everything to the court house and got the apostille letters for each document
August 9, 2006—Heidi and Rich (our friends who are also adopting and will be our travel mates!!) took everything to the Secretary of State's office to be state sealed. Found out we have to get new birth certificates. Mailed everything but the I-797 and our birth certificates to Open Door
August 11, 2006—We went to Atlanta to get new birth certificates; Our partial dossier was sent to the Chinese Consulate in Houston, TX
August 12, 2006—After 10 weeks of waiting, we finally received our I-797
August 14, 2006—I had the I-797 notarized and got the notary letter
August 15, 2006—I went to the Secretary of States office and had the I-797 State sealed. Mailed second set of documents to Open Door
August 18, 2006–-second part of dossier sent to the Chinese Consulate
August 22, 2006—first set of docs. back from the Chinese Consulate
August 29, 2006—all of our documents are back from Houston!!!
September 9, 2006––our dossier was sent for translation
September 29, 2006—DTC!!!! Our paperwork was sent and arrived safely in China today!!!
