December Update

December was a very busy month. We had a lot of things going on and what seems like a very little time to do it in. First was the Kraton plant employees' Christmas party. Savannah got to meet Santa and Mrs. Claus and received a present from them. She liked the wrapping paper and bow more than the present. Several friends from the plant were happy they got to meet Savannah in person after reading about our trip and updates. Next we spent several days throughout the month trying to get our Christmas shopping completed. We finally finished up on the 23rd.

Christmas eve was spent at Maw Maw and Pawpaw VanMatre's. All the Aunts, Uncles, and cousins were there. Forget about the presents--Savannah had a blast just playing in the pile of wrapping paper. After we left and got home, we found that Santa had already come to our house. Savannah got several presents, but again she would rather play in the pile of paper.

Christmas night was spent at Pawpaw and Maw Maw Decker's house. All the Aunts, Uncles, and cousins were there. Savannah had a great time there with, yes you guessed it, all of the bows and wrapping paper.

On December 26th we continued a tradition we have been doing for several years. We met Uncle Bruce in Huntington and had lunch with him. After lunch, Uncle Bruce gave the kids a Christmas card with money in it and then we went shopping, first at Toys R Us, then off to Wal Mart.

Needless to say, most of the money was gone by the end of the day. On the way home from Huntington we took Savannah to urgent care to see the Dr. We were leaving for Tennessee with the youth group, and Savannah had been congested and coughing, and we wanted to get her checked before we left. She ended up having viral bronchitis, and the trip was cut short due to her not feeling well. We had a great time spending time with our friends. The youth had a great time. There were 4 different conference meetings, and they got to hear speakers like Ergan Caner and Tony Nolan, and they got to see groups perform like Third Day and Barlow Girl.

We spent New Years Eve at Maw Maw and Pawpaw VanMatre's. Savannah was able to stay up until midnight to ring in the new year, but did not stay up much longer. As soon as we got home, she crashed, and so did the rest of us.

Savannah has been saying or trying to say several words, She can say Ma Ma, Ba Ba, Da Da, Nana (for banana), down, pow (when you give her high five). She will give kisses when asked, she can wave bye bye, she will put her arms up in the air when you say touchdown, and she will give you high five. She will not crawl anymore; she walks all the time and gets into everything. It will be almost four months since we brought our beautiful daughter home. I catch myself staring at her, especially when she is asleep, and I am in awe of her. God has been so good to bless us with this precious gift.

Well, that is all for this month. Enjoy the pictures, and stay tuned for next months update.
