Today we had an optional tour of the Old City. We decided to pass this one up because Savannah has been very cranky. The congestion in her chest is getting better, but between the antibiotic, decongestant, and tylenol she just doesn't feel up to par, and boy, is it a job getting those in her. There are several babies who have colds and are starting ear infections. We mostly stayed in the hotel earlier today and let her rest.
Our guide Anita brought back a special gift for Savannah. It was a beautiful paper cut out of a pig in a frame, which represents the year she was born in. In China a baby born in the year of the pig is thought to be very lucky and will have a prosperous life. We can't thank our guides Marie and Anita for all the kindness they have shown us. We will never forget them.
Later in the day, we walked to Care Four again with some other parents to get some more formula and some snacks. We had crowds gather around us several times wanting to know why we had babies. Luckily we have a couple in our group who have lived in China in the past and know how to speak fluent Chinese, and they explained each time we were surrounded why we were there and that we were adopting, and they were very pleased and gave a thumbs up. We keep getting comments from the locals about Savannah's hair being so thick. Even Marie said she had beautiful hair.
This evening we met up with some other families in the group to have dinner down in the mall underneath the hotel at a Japanese Grill. We got the food ordered and Savannah decided she had enough and threw a fit. This was the first time she has really shown what she's made of. She was so upset that when we got back to the room, she ended up making herself sick (all over her Ma Ma). I think she is getting very comfortable with us now and is starting to show us her true attitude. Anyway, I (Ma Ma) ended up leaving Brian and Haleigh to eat and took mine to go and went back to our room to calm her down, and after getting revenge on me, she then sat on the bed smiled and played. She already knows how to work it!!
After Brian and Haleigh got back. we had reservations to see a show (The 12th Annual Chongqing Metropolitan Landscape and Tourism Show). Talk about huge--there must have been at least 75,000 people there, and we had front row seats thanks to Marie. At first we had trouble making our way through the crowd, but then the police cleared a pathway through the crowd to get us through, it was as if we were getting royal treatment. While waiting for the show to start, several local T.V. stations filmed our group of adoptive parents, and one local well known station CC T.V. stopped and did an interview with Brian. It was very surreal being treated like stars. Savannah didn't last long there either. She was tired, it was late, and she needed her bottle and bed, so we apologized to our guides and headed back across the street to our room to put the girls in bed.
We love being in China and seeing the culture, but we are very homesick and miss our boys. We thank you for all your prayers and appreciate your e-mails. That is what is getting us through these last few days of our journey.
P.S. We want to send out Birthday wishes to Pa Pa Sonny and Mikayla. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" WE LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
