Today we started off with breakfast as usual, then we had to go back to our room and stay there from 10:30 to 12:00 just in case the U.S. Consulate office needed additional information. Around 11:45 our guide, Kathy, called to say everything was fine, and the paperwork should go through with no problems. She also wanted us to meet her and the other families on the 2nd floor for the famous Red Couch Photos. We met the other families and hung around for over an hour just talking and taking photos. For years during the wait we have read people's blogs about the White Swan and the Red Couch Photos. It is hard to believe we are finally here and having them taken ourselves.
After the photo session was over, we took Savannah back to the room for a nap. It was a short nap, and we were off to do some shopping. We shopped at several different places and the last place we stopped at was Jordan's Place. The owner was a very nice man, and we talked with him for a long time. We plan to go back there tomorrow.
We had to make a tip back to the hotel to unload our gifts, and then it was time for dinner. We walked to Lucy's and had great food. I had the burger again, while Melinda had the pork chops, and Haleigh had soup and fries. Savannah was chomping down on a little bit of potatoes. She is starting to get the hang of eating table food. On the way back to the hotel, we ran into another family from our group. Thay had been told some of the people in our group had made the Guangzhou Daily Newspaper. The picture was of the families walking though the flood waters to the medical exam the previous day. We don't know what they were saying about us, but we got a newspaper from the local 7-11 to bring one home for a souvenir.
All three girs are down and out, as of now. Savannah had her first bubble bath. She wasn't sure about the bubbles, but the bath and a warm bottle made her night. Only 1 more day in Guangzhou before the long trip home.
Tomorrow we start off the day (not counting breakfast) with a trip to the Pearl Market. Then we travel to the Consulate to take the oath and get Savannah's visa. A little more shopping, and we will be ready to head home. Until tomorrow...
Jordan and Tannor: Only 2 days left. We will see you soon. We love and miss you.
