SIGHTSEEING IN SHANGHAI

We had a pretty good night, Tari only cried once, around 4am, and settled within about 10 mins. We managed to get down to breakfast by 8am. We were supposed to be in the lobby by 9am...but we were about 5 mins late...everyone was late!! We didn't leave til about 920am. Our Guide probably thinks "these slacker Australians, couldn't get organised, if they tried!!"

First we went to a Silk Factory. We went to one in Beijing last year, but it's still amazing!!! We bought a single bed silk quilt for Tari. But didn't get a cover...they were gorgeous and SO soft--but so expensive!!! Next stop, French Quarter, to walk the streets and look at the architecture. Todd went, but I stayed on the bus, as Tari had just gone to sleep. It was much warmer on the bus!!! Todd took lots of nice photos. Lastly, we went to the Jade Buddha Temple. We couldn't take a picture of "The Jade Buddha" (he's the biggest, and pretty special?!!) I did take a picture, of "Happy Buddha"--only because our Guide said, Todd had a strong resemblance to Happy Buddha!!! Yeah...I can see it...bald, round belly and usually smiling?!!! (and our staff would probably think that Todd is made of Gold too?!!!)

We went back to the hotel for lunch and so Tari could have a sleep. And I set off with a couple of others to find a laundry and a supermarket. We did find both. Although our laundry has set us back, by about AUS$40!! Think we'll just turn our undies inside out, from now?!!! We got lots great snacks, Tari especially loves some rice crackers (recommended by a batch mate--we got a massive bag, maybe 50 little packs?!! for about AUS$3) and some milk biscuits. We found a couple of little bakeries too! Mmmm...

Later in the afternoon, I went out with another Mum, and we hit a local Mall. I just looked, but my friend scored lots!!! We went to a little local cafe/restaurant for dinner--and ordered from pictures! 6 adults, 1 child, 3 babies = TOTAL BILL 130RMB (AUS$32) with drinks included!!! It was delicious too!!! I think we'll be going back there for lunches!!! Tari absolutely LOVES noodles, and they had several noodle dishes for about 6RMB ($1.20)!! After dinner, we walked to a local night market, for a look.

We're back in our warm hotel room now...exhausted!!!

Here's the photos from today (you'll be happy to know, I bought Tari a cute "girlie" beanie from the supermarket today, as Tari is wearing a borrowed beanie from a man in our batch!!!) Photos of new beanie, on our princess, tomorrow!
