RAIN RAIN GO AWAY!

We were sposed to go to the "TV tower" today (I assume it is a very high vantage point, over the city), but it is so overcast and rainy, our Guide took us to Yu Gardens (pronounced Woo Gardens). Absolutely amazing! Gorgeous gardens and architecture. A bloke made it for his Dad, so his Dad would be proud of him...unfortunately his Dad passed away before it was finished! Bummer! As soon as we stepped off the bus, it started to rain. Tari was asleep, so we wrapped her up in her blanket and beanie, and put an umbrella over her.

Did I mention, that all around the garden is a mass of little shops?!!! Selling anything and everything! Our guide kept saying before we got off the bus "You follow me. No shopping. I will give you free time. You must follow me"!!!! I love our Guide. She is very passionate about Shanghai. And says about everything "Very Fantastic". It makes me laugh! Poor love, half the time, we are attending to crying babies, or picking up the toys they keep throwing, or the shoes they keep kicking off--that we are very poor listeners...I think she's getting a bit annoyed with us!!! Plus--we are a very vocal and silly group, and crack jokes at everything...or maybe its just me?!!!

Anyway, we managed to get around and see the garden, and got our coveted free time to shop. We didn't do nearly as much as I would have liked, due to the rain. We spent the last half hour hauled up in Starbucks!

We got back to the hotel in time to put Tari down for her "after lunch" sleep. Todd and I chowed down on some instant noodles, Lays Texas Rib Chips, and Zero coke for lunch! We had a little nap too. Tari slept for 3 hours! Its so dark outside, that even with the curtains open, it's dark.

Mummy's Side Notes from Shanghai

*Tari is eating and drinking like a trooper! Which is good all round (the back end is going well too!)

*Tari cries when we leave the room (you know, to go to the bathroom--we don't leave her alone in our room!!!!!)

*Shanghai is amazing. Its a very new city compared to Guangzhou--when I say new--its only about 300 years old!

*If in Shanghai - you MUST go to Yu Gardens

*All the locals think Tari is a boy. What the?!!!

*At least 4 times a day, locals ask if Tari is Chinese, then look at Todd and say she is his baby.

*I told a lady today, that Tari was born in Guangdong, she said, "Oh you live there?!" I laughed, and said "No! We live in Australia!" I still don't think she worked out that we have adopted Tari!!!! She also commented on how handsome our son was!!!!

*I think it's her crew cut hair-do that makes locals think she is a boy?!! She has the longest eye lashes...maybe boys have long eye lashes here?!!

*Its friggin' freezing in Shanghai, compared to Guangzhou!!! I don't feel so silly about bringing a thermal tee shirt now!!!

Well. That is about it, today. We don't get free internet here; I think it's going to cost us a small fortune...but worth it!!!

HI TO OUR BABIES AT HOME! We love you!! Only five more days 'til we see you!!!
